This class is designed to provide a roadmap for the Realtor to follow to a smooth and successful conclusion of a real estate transaction. In the process of detailing the roles of the listing agent, the selling agent, and the settlement agent, the Realtor will gain a better understanding of the "behind the scenes" work that goes into each transaction. In turn, this will allow them to better serve their clients by providing insight into how the entire process flows from beginning to end. Furthermore, this course touches on various common special circumstances Realtors may encounter. and will better prepare them for handling such situation in a smooth and efficient manner.

James “Jim” Johnson has practiced in many different areas of the law with a primary focus on real estate since graduating law school in 2004. From 2005 to 2007, Jim was employed by the firm Shreves, Schudel, Saunders, Parello & Clarke PLLC in support of RGS Title offices in Winchester and Culpeper. Jim rejoined the firm in 2022, this time also being assigned to manage the Winchester RGS office. During his time away from SPC Firm and RGS, Jim spent nearly 15 years with one of the most prestigious and largest firms in the central Shenandoah Valley in Harrisonburg. Jim brings with him not only vast settlement experience, but also adept problem-solving skills from his many years assisting clients with complex transactions and legal disputes. Aside from practicing law, Jim enjoys spending time with family; including his wife Tricia, two children, two English bulldogs and a cattle dog. He also devotes time to various hobbies, including finding trails and bodies of water to “play in” in the Valley, volunteering for civic organizations and occasionally teaching law-related education.
